Peer-to-Peer in a classroom is a learning technique where one or more students help other students. In an educational peer-to-peer environment, students learn from each other during different group activities. Peer-to-peer learning brings lots of benefits to both student-tutor and student-tutee. Some of the advantages that peer-to-peer learning brings to the classroom are given below.
Peer-to-peer learning can have a positive impact on a student’s attitude towards learning as they see other students collaborating among themselves hence the student may become curious which can have a positive impact on the student’s attitude. Many students think of learning as a monotonous boring process that creates a negative mindset among them about learning while peer-to-peer learning can increase the interaction among students which can help students to engage in learning effectively.
Communication skills are one of the most important skills in today’s fast-moving life. Peer-to-peer learning implies that there is no one teacher who teaches the class while it is a method in which any student can teach anyone. This improves the communication skills of students, they interact with many students which helps them be better listeners as well as better speakers.

Teachers can ask students to do a small play which can improve their whole personality. Different roles can be assigned to students by other students which can develop a sense of responsibility among students. Play-based learning can be very helpful in implementing peer-to-peer learning among students.
Teaching students how to give proper feedback is really important and helpful in peer-to-peer learning. The teacher can teach students how to praise other students for their good work while telling the other students where they were wrong or not just perfect. Peer-to-peer activities can run smoothly by teaching students to take proper feedback.
While the students are teaching each other, keep a healthy check on every group, while not disturbing their space. The teacher should ensure that everything is going fine in each group and a healthy learning discussion is going on in every group. If any group is facing any difficulty, the teacher must go and help them in whatever way possible.
The teacher should ensure that no student is just listening to other students or just teaching other students. In peer-to-peer learning, every student should be a tutor as well as a tutee and that would help them a lot. Each student should have their turn to teach and to be taught as it gives both speaking as well as listening skills to the students which can improve their overall personality.
The teacher must clearly define the objectives of the peer-to-peer learning to the students and the concept that they would be learning after a session of peer-to-peer learning. The student tutor should know all of the content and the teacher should keep a check that the tutor is having proper knowledge of the topic and incorrect knowledge must not be given to other students.
Acknowledging students for their good work with good rewards can be very encouraging and students will tend to put more effort if a reward is waiting for them. Gifting rewards can create a feeling of competitiveness among students which can be very beneficial for them and every student would try his best to score well which creates a healthy learning environment. Creating such a reward system can help in implementing peer-to-peer learning in a great way.
