Discipline is an important part of everyone’s life. It plays a crucial role in maintaining a civilized life. It helps in significantly decreasing unnecessary chaos in daily life. For the effective operation of an organization like a school or an office, discipline is necessary.
School discipline is a well-defined system of certain rules and regulations that each student should have to follow. The system also includes punishments for students who break those rules. To make the school environment well-organized, and the teaching-learning process effective, discipline is a must.

The more students are engaged in activities, the less they cause problems. Try to give interactive classroom sessions and teach students passionately. Try to involve students instead of just giving lectures. Thus, it is advisable to make students write while you teach.
Breaking the class up into groups increases the likelihood that everyone will contribute to class discussion and problem-solving, this will prevent the students from creating unnecessary chaos in the class. Poll your students about their working preferences, or experiment with breaking them up in different ways, these things would certainly help in maintaining the decorum of the class.
Many teachers while teaching stand at the front of the class without even moving their position, it would give students an opportunity to make some sort of disturbance in the class. If teachers keep moving around in the whole class while teaching this will not only help the teacher to keep an eye on every student but the teacher can also keep the whole classroom alert.
It is advisable to deal with discipline problems right from the start before they become too large to handle. You should address every issue happening in the class immediately. You can also assign this responsibility to the monitors of class as well and these issues should be sorted out in the beginning because they may become nightmares in the future.
Certain good control procedures are developed to prevent problems. For example, a cover sheet can help prevent students from cheating in exams and creating disturbances around. These procedures are easy to implement and also help students to choose the right thing i.e, to study over cheating.
Only making good procedures is not enough but these procedures need to be taught to the students properly. Four steps involved in teaching them are:
Clearly explain the procedure
Practice it with children
Correct the parts that were done incorrectly
Repeat the procedures constantly until they do it in the right manner
If there is no proper organization in the classroom, students feel bored and start to misbehave. It would be better if everything in the classroom is pre-planned, be organized in everything as possible, and thus creating an organized workspace would work best. Teachers can also assign daily duties to students. They can teach time-management skills to students as well.
If you want students to follow you, respect you, then you need to create a genuine impression that you care about them. Always be kind, approachable, and ready to help them. Always ready to commit your mistakes if you have done any, show them that you love them. Also, students must be given compliments and they should be appreciated for any good work done by them. With all the above qualities, you will be able to create a strong friendly bond with students.
It’s good to create a friendly bond with students but becoming a too friendly teacher would also be going to harm you as students lose your fear as a teacher. So, try to become a good mentor instead. Your interactions with your students should be friendly but not familiar.
Students should be asked to keep their desks clean so that teachers can know exactly about the activities done by their students because mostly, students keep distracting material in their desks, and in this way teachers will have better control of students.
Train students to work and do their activities in a structured environment. Once they understand the structure, they would be able to understand the structure and work in that environment without losing focus.
All these tips and tricks help you manage disciplinary issues in school. No institution can work successfully without proper implementation of discipline in it. Hence, discipline should be given top priority in an organization.
