Zoom is a video platform that is used for communications purposes like meetings, calls, chats, and different online events. With Zoom, users can share their screen or desktop while their video is ON. Sharing feature gives full control to the users who share the screen and gives them full access to what other participants can or cannot see.
Sharing screen on Zoom: the quick way
Open zoom and make sure that you are logged in.
On the main page, you will see different options like join a meeting, host a meeting, schedule a meeting, or share screen. Select share screen.
After choosing the share screen option, input your meeting id and the screen will be shared with the people present in the meeting.
Sharing screen within Zoom meeting:
First, join or start a meeting.
Now, click the share screen icon present on the desktop in-meeting controls.
Choose one of the screen options you want to share:
Basic: This option allows the user to share the entire screen or desktop, whiteboards. The option also allows the user to use multiple desktop programs at once instead of sharing the entire desktop, but all the selected programs must be on the same screen to be visible.
Advanced: After sharing the screen, the user can choose the advanced option from the windows that pops up. From there, users have the different options:
Sharing only a portion of the screen
Show slides or a PowerPoint presentation as a virtual background
Share a video
Users can also share content from the second camera
Can also share files
Can share only computer’s audio

Controls to users while sharing screen on Zoom:
When the user starts sharing the screen, they can drag the control options around their screen. This feature could be only available to the host or cohost due to admin restrictions.
Start/Stop video: use to start or stop the video.
Mute/Unmute: Use to mute or unmute the microphone.
Participants: By clicking on this option user can see the number of participants and manage them.
Polls: Use to create, edit and launch the polls.
Pause Share: Use to pause the current screen share.
New Share: Use to select a new share.
More option contains the following additional options:
Chat: Use to open the chat window.
Meeting info: From this option, users can access their meeting id, host, participants id, etc.
Annotate: This option allows the users access to the display annotations tool to draw, add text, and various other activities.
Record: It is used to record the meeting.
Live on Facebook: Use to broadcast the meeting live on Facebook.
Live on YouTube: Use to broadcast the meeting live on Youtube.
End Meeting: Use to leave the meeting or end the meeting for all participants.
Steps to share screen on Android
Click on the Share button in the meeting controls. This will share the entire screen including any application on the Android device.
Swipe down and click on the screen. The system will automatically display the notification informing you what the screen will have access to.
Click on the start now for confirmation. The screen will be shared and the Zoom will continuously run in the background.
Click on the Annotate option to open the annotations tool for drawing or writing.
Tap on the Stop Sharing to end the screen sharing.
Steps to share screen on iOS
Screen sharing on iOS devices is somewhat different as compared to sharing on Windows or Android devices. The entire screen sharing on an iOS device on running devices is iOS 11 or higher. Steps to follow for screen sharing on iOS devices:
Before screen sharing, it’s best to fix the required settings. Click on the Settings App. Now click on the Control Center and then Customize Controls. Click on the green plus sign to add Screen Recording.
Now connect to the Zoom meeting and tap on the Share Content which is present in the middle of the control bar at the bottom of the screen.
Now click on the Screen.
After clicking on the screen, you need to access the control center.
Now hold on to the record button until the screen recording option will pop up.
Now click on Zoom and tap Start Broadcast.
Once the presentation is over tap on the Stop.
